SCARLATTA
Production as a curatorial practice: Spazio RT presents Scarlatta, Francesco Librizzi’s new bookcase, at the center of the exhibition on view from 27 November 2025 to 14 February 2026 in the Milan gallery on Via Fatebenefratelli.
Scarlatta was born from an intuition that arose during a renovation project in Levanto, for which Librizzi oversaw the architectural aspects and Spazio RT the furnishings. The need to shore up an exposed beam was resolved by the architect with the design of a metal support: a structural element that asserts itself in the space with a singular formal presence. Spazio RT recognized its expressive force and invited Librizzi to translate the constructive solution into an autonomous object — a bookcase. The architect agreed to extend his design process alongside RT, transforming the technical drawing into domestic architecture, structure into language. In Scarlatta, uprights, joints, and metal trace an essential geometry between rigor and lightness.
With this collaboration, Spazio RT continues its research on design, close to critical reflection and distant from industrial circuits. An almost unprecedented curatorial practice in Italy, where the gallery stimulates, selects, and accompanies the development of projects born exclusively from conceptual needs, never from productive urgencies.
